Cultural Centre in Ptuj on the Drava
The building features a green timber facade. In the interiors, natural materials are also on display. The load bearing structure combines cross laminated and glued laminated timber.
The roof surface covering 62 × 89 m is oriented to the cardinal directions. The field containing 5488 skylights covers the prayer hall and is rotated by 17°, precisely facing Mecca.
The two-storey main space is bordered by an L-shaped gallery housing a small-scale range of differentiated rooms.
Respectfully responding to the original atmosphere of the warehouse, the new built-in elements display restraint.
