In the immediate vicinity of Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences, a new student housing facility was erected that boasts a sustainable approach to building. It also received the highest DGNB certificate in platinum from the German Sustainable Building Council. The initiator of the project is Peter Astner, a private investor who also teaches at the university. He purchased the 1.4 hectare lot, which a metalworking company had previously occupied, and developed it in cooperation with the city of Rosenheim. The latter built affordable housing on the northern part of the site. The southern part is dedicated to what is called Campus RO. It features three buildings with apartments for students and a boarding house.
